San Francisco-born quintessential American poet ROBERT FROST (1874-1963) was educated in Lawrence, Massachusetts and worked in New England. He was awarded four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry, and was Poet Laureate of the United States from 1958-59. Author and book designer and typographer , Joseph Blumenthal (1897-1990) was well acquainted with Frost's work as the fine press printer and designer to a large body of the poet's work, done through his firm the Spiral Press, operating in New York between 1926 and 1971.
