Light rubbing to covers and minor crimping at spine ends. Mild age toning. Hinges and joints in order. Some old pencil tick marks faintly discernible to table of contents page. A scarce first edition of the last book of poetry by Virginia-born Christopher Pearse Cranch (1813 - 1892), poet, painter and famous friend of the Boston Transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson, to whom he dedicated a series of doodled illustrations interpreting the latter's 1836 work, "Nature."
