CONDITION: Fine.** Walter Muir Whitehall's lecture on the work of the Danish-born fine press craftsman, Fred Anthoensen, whose work at the Portland, Maine Anthoensen (and Southworth-Anthoensen Press) was respected for it's originality and high quality in the early to mid twentieth century. Mr. Whitehall was the Head of the Boston Atheneum, and a client for various New England institutions of the printer, and makes much of the printer's self-education and high standards shown in the dedication to his craft. The book also features a facsimile letter of appreciation about the lecture (addressed to Anthoensen,) by Paul Standard, in his trademark calligraphic hand, from which he made his own career in the graphic design of books.
