Spine with similar illustration and frame featuring vignette of a winged fairy holding a bow. Color frontispiece opposite title page. 304pp. "Made at The Temple Press, Letchworth, Great Britain." Excerpts for children from 20 Shakespearean tales. Includes 12 full color illustrations with a number of newly added ones from the J.M. Dent edition, which the artist has signed and dated 1899 & '09. Also 2 full page black and white illustrations, and numerous smaller black and white line illustrations for chapter headers and footers. Temple Press, established by J.M. Dent in 1905, in addition to being their children's publishing division, produced the Everyman series of classics. CONDITION : Very Good Plus. Spine gold a bit dulled. Very minimal wear to tips. Pages are mildly age toned. Lacking d/j. Otherwise, hinges are in order, plates are bright and book is very clean. Gift inscription to ffep. in old pen. British Artist ARTHUR RACKHAM (1869-1939).
