This anthology of twenty short tales of the supernatural by the folklore collector, essayist and Author Lafcadio Hearn, (1850-1904) an Irish ex-pat who moved to Japan in the mid 19th century, becoming assimilated, and adopting a Japanese name and family. He was a very popular writer in his time, providing interesting cultural views of the then more isolated," exotic" culture. These fairytales were adapted from "Japanese Ghost Stories "(Penguin, 2019), and were originally published between 1894 and 1905. The title tale, " Of Ghosts and Goblins," tells the mysterious tale of a young woman, who appears to be a ghost, testing samurai suitors in a deep dark wooded graveyard...
