Born in Baltimore, he worked in gouache, watercolor and pastel, and was among a number of turn of the century artists who drew on the special light and scenery of Venice for inspiration. He wrote a number of novels, several of which were turned in to film in the first decade of the twentieth century. This book contains black and white reproductions of some eight of his works. Bruce Rogers designed the title page, initial capitals and the design of the cloth binding, with illustrations to front board and the spine. REF: Haas (1936) No. 15.
