Her art education at the Boston Museum School in the first decade of the twentieth century exposed her to some of the premier male artists of the day, including Edmund Tarbell and Frank Benson. She also studied under Albert Munsell and Richard Andrew. Browne was known for a robust use of color in her work. A portrait of Alfonzo VIII, King of Spain (1927) commissioned by the New York Yacht Club, is considered one of her finest. She was an active member of many artist societies, among them, The Guild of Boston Artists, The Copley Society and Rockport Art Society. She won numerous prizes, and was exhibited widely during her lifetime. For more on biography, see Erica Hirshler, "A Studio of Her Own," (2001).OCLC 192606109.
