Signed and inscribed by the Author. Hard cover, 12 mo. (measuring 5 1/2 x 8 3/4 inches), in blue cloth with titles in gold, 249 pp. Rowley Printing Inc. Described as: "a compilation of information gathered from books, letters, diaries, memories, tape recordings, newspapers and town records with maps, pictures and items." The Author, William Jewett, is a descendent of a" first settler" family who relocated from Bradford, West Riding, Yorkshire, England to Boston, Salem in 1638, finally breaking ground in Rowley (modern-day Essex County,) Massachusetts in 1639. The group of ten first families arrived came under the guidance of the Rev. Ezekiel Rogers, and his name was given to the original settlement Plantation, located near by the Rowley town line. The Ship "John" also brought the first printing press to America. This book concisely details the early history while also adding interesting detail from more modern times.
