Whiston was also an ordained minister, and was rector of Lowestoft from 1698-1699. He was a Boyle lecturer in 1707, in which position he defended the position of biblical literalism. In 1710 he was expelled from the university because of his religious views, in particular his denial of the doctrine of the Trinity, saying it had pagan origins. *** The book contains lectures discussing the movement of the planets, eclipses, and measurements. It is illustrated throughout and contains a section of tables at the end.
