He was also a Fellow of the Entomological Society, London. The book contains a series of essays, ripe with lyrical descriptions, on the art of bee-keeping in the persona of "The Bee-Master" of Warrilow, a quaint English village on the Sussex Downs. This was the first of this material in book form, having been adapted from items previously printed in the Pall Mall Gazette. The photographs look like something out of a Merchant Ivory production. Edwardes also wrote a novel, Tansy, which became a silent film. The author's bee house is listed in the History of Beekeeping in English Gardens, The Gardens Trust, 2000. A scarce book.
