Hard cover, 16 mo., (measuring 4 ΒΌ x 6 3/8 inches,) in an Arts and Crafts style rebinding (signed Worsfold) of full, crushed green morocco, with tooled decoration of ivy leaves, dots and gilt rule to both boards, the spine with five raised dotted bands, the compartments banded in byzantine arch shapes centering similar ivy sprigs and dots of varying sizes. Titles and author to the second and third compartment. Top edge gilt, others trimmed. COLLATION: [7], ix,[1], 356 pp. Top edge gilt. The engraved, armorial bookplate of collector Charles Waterman Armour appears on the front pastedown. An engraved frontispiece, and second illustrated title page features the art of English illustrator Edward Henry Corbould (1815-1905.) Printed London: Savill and Edwards, Covent Garden. Dedication to the Duke of Devonshire, K.G. by Author. The original decorated, blue cloth binding has been bound in at the rear. CONDITION: Overall, Very Good Plus. Binding itself is Fine, but with some oxidation to the spine causing darkening, yet showing virtually no wear. Hinges are in order. Faint bookseller's note to ffep. in pencil. Moderate toning to text pages.**Contents include: a reprint of the Author's Preface appearing in the 1832 edition of "Poetical Works, see our listing 8388) entitled, "A Study in Versification," explaining his movement beyond traditional Heroic verse parameters. "The Story of Rimini," "Hero and Leander" "The Panther," and "The Ballads of Robinhood," appear in addition to a number of translations from French and Italian poetry. English AUTHOR Leigh Hunt ( 1784-1859). London BOOKBINDER WILLIAM WORSFOLD, (1856-1929,) is mentioned at an address in Farrindon Street, London by 1853. (M. Packer, 1991, p. 167-68.)
