Hard cover, 8vo. in quarter brown cloth with decorated, paper-covered boards, 119 pp. A satirical fable about a man who becomes a zoo exhibit after breaking up with his fiancé. Author David Garnett (1892-1981) was a Bloomsbury Group affiliated novelist, and co-founder of the Nonesuch Press. His first wife, Rachel Marshall, was the artist for this volume. Engraved bookplate of Frederick Whiley Hilles, and his signature, to ffep , dated 1 June, 1924. Hilles was Bodmin Professor of English Literature at Yale, and a former intelligence officer based at Bletchley Park during World War II. He was a noted scholar on the writings of Sir Joshua Reynolds. He and his wife gave a library to Radcliffe College at Harvard. Condition: Very Good.
