In English, German, French and Italian.**CONDITION: Fine. **Compiler Theodore Deodatus Nathaniel Besterman (1904 - 1976) was a psychical researcher as well as a bibliographer. His former work involved the careful debunking of many of the claims made by clairvoyants as the investigating officer for the Society for Psychical Research. After one of his critical studies was published in book form, the author Arthur Conan Doyle (who was an avid fan of the paranormal) resigned from the Society. Besterman also became a Voltaire scholar, publishing 107 volumes of Voltaire's letters, and bequesting his collection to the University of Oxford. OCLC 204391.
