The American Education Society, for which the Author, Bela Bates Edwards (1802-1852) wrote, was conceived as an outreach for the promotion of training for Protestant ministers, and associated with the Andover Theological Society. The book provides an encyclopedic summary of the known world, with lists and time-line of things such as: the populations of the American States from 1790 through 1830, a timeline of mathematical and scientific discoveries, a list of American authors, manual labor schools, literary societies, medical schools, list of the Congregational and Presbyterian ministers, income tables of the British West Indies and so much more.
