A work of popular botany, exploring such questions as the health of soil, erosion, time of planting, the production of nursery stock and more. The author, John Asch was the son of the noted Yiddish novelist Sholem Asch, and was active in establishing agricultural colonies in Palestine. His study of the life of plants took him to nurseries and agricultural institutions around the United States and abroad.
